A bit slippy on crappy, snowy roads, so not ideal if you live on a street that cannot afford road plows. Also, if you commute whatever the weather, you're better off with winter tires. Me, I don't commute, so I just wait for the roads to get plowed or, If I absolutely have to go, I rent a car with winter tires (that I can crash if I absolutely have to), or just put on chains, which are cheaper than the rental.Pro:
- I've been using Maxxis tires on my bike for years. They're the best. I bought them for my Volvo wagon three years ago and they're just as good.
- I generally drive city / freeway, so I don't need the hassle of changing twice a year. The only disadvantage is they're not great on unplowed / icy country roads, so if you're a skier don't do it. Get winter tires (or chains). Me, I just rent a van, with winter tires, so I don't have to strap my skies to the roof, where they get all cruddy.
- The BIG BIG advantage is these tires are fantastic in the wet. I like to drive fast and with these I don't need to slow down even when its cats and dogs (in my other car, with summer tires, I have to go slow or die). They're even good for some light off-roading (though I'd avoid deep mud).
- BTW, they last about as long as my summer tires even though I only drive that car about 9 months out of the year.
